Robocall volume climbs for a third month, and the scam share climbs faster

YouMail’s Robocall Index puts July 2026 at just over 4.35 billion robocalls, up about 1.5% from June. That is roughly 139.3 million calls a day, or 1,612 a second. May was about 4.1 billion and June was more than 4.25 billion, so July is the third consecutive monthly increase and the highest month since July 2025.
The trailing twelve months total 48.7 billion, which YouMail describes as “continuing the lowest 12-month total recorded since September 2022.” Monthly volume now sits more than 15% above the October 2025 low.
The mix is the part that moved. YouMail’s July split runs alerts and reminders 36%, scams 27%, telemarketing 19%, payment reminders 15%, unclassified 2%. Scams were around 22% of robocalls in March. Notifications fell 2.6% and payment reminders fell 1.2%, while telemarketing and scams together rose 5.7% to over 2.1 billion calls. YouMail scores about 51% of July robocalls as likely wanted and 49% as likely unwanted.
Alex Quilici, YouMail’s CEO: “Monthly robocall volumes have been slowly creeping upward, and we’re more than 15% above the lowest levels we saw last October.”
The single largest campaign was pre-approved personal loan offers, well over 40 million calls in July from thousands of rotating numbers.
A second July post breaks the month down by city and state. Atlanta took approximately 148.2 million robocalls, the highest of any city in the Index; Dallas 112.3 million, Houston 103.6 million, Los Angeles 94.5 million. The fastest growth was elsewhere. Albany, Georgia rose 13% month over month, Memphis, Evansville and Springfield, Missouri 11% each, Indianapolis 10%, and Seattle, Jonesboro, Clarksville and Killeen 9%. Tampa fell 4% and several North Carolina markets declined.
Two things are true at once and the headline number only carries one of them. Total volume is still near a four-year low. The unwanted half of it has grown for three straight months while the wanted half shrank.
